Sorell-Lucas Wedding

Antonette Marie Sorrell of Greenwood and Dr. Aubrey Bell Lucas of Jackson were united in marriage at 11 a.m. Jan. 10, 2009, at the Episcopal Church of the Nativity in Greenwood.

The Rev. Matt Rowe officiated the ceremony.

The bride is the daughter of Cora Gilmer Sorrell of Greenwood and the late Robert David Sorrell of Belzoni.

She is the granddaughter of Eugenia Abernathy Sorrell of Brandon, the late Mr. and Mrs. Charlie Ray Gilmer of Belzoni and the late John Webb Sorrell of Belzoni.

The groom is the son of Dr. John Fair Lucas Jr. of Greenwood and the late Sethelle Bell Lucas.

He is the grandson of the late Dr. and Mrs. John Fair Lucas Sr. and the late Mr. and Mrs. Aubrey Hilliard Bell, all of Greenwood.

The bride wore an ivory gown of re-embroidered Alencon lace with a chapel-length train. Her fingertip veil was trimmed with matching lace.

The bouquet was a classic biedermeier bouquet of Virginia roses and jade roses.

Dr. Ashley Burleson Pullen of Madison served as matron of honor.

Dr. John Fair Lucas Jr. of Greenwood served his son as best man.

Ushers were Michael Lucas Naaman of Greenville, Richard Harold Flowers IV of Madison, Robert Costigan Flowers of Madison, William Lucas Flowers of Madison and Robert Gillespie Lucas of Jackson, all nephews of the groom.

Acolytes were Kathryn Marsha Annette Lucas of Greenwood and Sethelle Bell Flowers of Madison, nieces of the groom.

The banner bearer was Michael Alexander Lucas of Greenwood, nephew of the groom.

The crucifer was Davis Minyard Flowers of Madison, nephew of the groom.

Scripture readers were Aubrey Hilliard Flowers of Madison, nephew of the groom; Robert Hilliard Lucas of Jackson, brother of the groom; and Tish Bowie Goodman of Greenwood.

Program attendants were Meri Macrery Lucas of Jackson and Elizabeth Lacey Naaman of Greenville, nieces of the groom; and Helen Olmsted Singleton and Rachel McLean Singleton, both of Greenwood.

Following the service, a reception was held at the home of Dr. John Fair Lucas Jr., father of the groom.

On the eve of the wedding, the groom's father hosted a rehearsal supper at the Greenwood Country Club.

Following a honeymoon to San Juan, Puerto Rico, and the Caribbean islands, the couple is at home in Jackson.

The bride is a 1994 graduate of Humphreys Academy. She received a nursing degree in 1999 and a master's degree in 2005, both from Delta State University.

She is employed at Greenwood Leflore Hospital's Itta Bena Clinic.

The groom is a 1978 graduate of Pillow Academy. He received an undergraduate degree from the University of Mississippi in 1982 and a medical degree from the University of Mississippi School of Medicine in 1986.

He is employed as an orthopedic hand surgeon in Jackson.
