We will gather together for the beginning of the Christian season of preparation, self-reflection and repentance known as Lent. Two worship services will be offered on Ash Wednesday, one at noon and one at 5:30pm. At both services, we’ll receive communion and receive the sign of the cross on our foreheads in ashes. In the Old Testament, ashes were placed on folks’ heads as a sign of repentance. It reminds us of the reality of our own earthly mortality as well. Our noon service will be Rite II and our 5:30pm service will be Rite I.
