Sunday Morning Worship and Fellowship
On Sunday mornings we come together as a church family to spend time in worship and fellowship. From weekly Christian education offerings to the occasional Sunday Potluck, we hope that you will have the opportunity to join us each and every Sunday.
8:00 a.m. Holy Eucharist, Rite I
This service of Holy Communion follows The Holy Eucharist: Rite One from the Book of Common Prayer, page 323 and includes instrumental organ selections but no singing. The Rite I service is generally regarded as a more traditional service and more closely resembles the version from the 1928 prayer book.
9:00 a.m. Parish-wide Breakfast
During the school year, we join for a time of fellowship over breakfast in the parish hall. All are welcome.
9:30 a.m. Christian Formation (during the School Year)
During this time, classes of all ages meet to grow in the knowledge and love of God through Christian formation. Children and youth, divided by age range, will meet in various classrooms throughout the church. The Adult Forum gathers in parish hall.
10:30am: Holy Eucharist, Rite II
This service of Holy Communion enjoys the traditional hymns and worship music accompanied by the choir and follows The Holy Eucharist: Rite Two from the Book of Common Prayer, page 355. The Rite II service is generally regarded as a more modern service and includes updated language.
What are services like?
To first-time non-Episcopalian visitors, our services may seem like a lot of standing, kneeling, sitting, and singing. Feel free to participate as much or as little as you wish. You’ll be given a bulletin when you arrive that will help you follow along. While it may take a few visits to get used to juggling the two books we use during ours service, we are here to help you and make you feel comfortable. Everyone who has been baptized in any Christian church is welcome to take communion (or Holy Eucharist, as we say). Or if you’d like to just sit quietly and take it all in, that’s okay, too. Most of all, we want you to feel comfortable and welcomed when you visit us.
What’s available for my children?
Programs for children and youth and regular Sunday school run from August to early May. Nursery care is available for the very young during Sunday School hour and during worship. While children are welcome in church, the tradition of most parents of very young children is to let them play in the nursery with our caring staff for the first 40 minutes of worship, and then bring them to communion at the ending part of the service. For older children, there are always child friendly bulletin and an activity box for them to color available in the front of the church.
