Porter-Fair Wedding

Kathryn Sloane Porter and Joshua Kyle Fair were united in marriage at 5:30 p.m. Nov. 22, 2008, at the Episcopal Church of the Nativity in Greenwood.

The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John Doty Porter of Greenwood.

She is the granddaughter of Mr. and Mrs. Harold Ray Bowen, the late Walter Wilburn McNeer and Mrs. Norman Doty Porter and the late Mr. Porter, all of Greenwood.

The groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Michael Fair of Avalon.

He is the grandson of Mr. Carl Edward Reese and the late Mrs. Reese and Mr. and Mrs. Charles J. Fair, all of Senatobia.

The double-ring ceremony was officiated by the Rev. Matthew Robert Rowe.

Nuptial music was presented by organist William Gerald Claxton and flutist Elizabeth Brown Rowe. Tante Faulkner Moore served as vocalist and Laura Suzanne Mims as lector.

James A. Barrett served as verger, and the accompanying acolytes were Elizabeth Vaughn Avant, Shelby Kathryn Rowe, Richard Ashcraft Shaw and Mary Reynolds Whites.

Given in marriage by her father, the bride wore a bridal gown of ivory taffeta, which featured a ruched sweetheart neckline embellished with a fleur beading of seed pearls and crystals touched with a silver thread. With her gown, she wore a fingertip veil of edged illusion.

She carried a bouquet of green mini cymbidium orchids, mango callas, estelle and orange roses nestled in wisps of string smilax. A monogrammed handkerchief was tucked into her bouquet.

Serving as maid of honor was Callie Anease Calhoun.

Bridesmaids were Julia Andersen Bledsoe, Meredith Leigh Coleman, Kathryn Anne Flanagan, Lindsey Accardo Fyke, Kristin Zito Lindley, Tante Faulkner Moore, Mary Gregory Porter, May Shackelford Trezevant and Jennings Kathryn Whelan.

Serving as program attendants were Mary Margaret Leflore and Spencer Carol Leflore.

The groom's father served as best man.

Groomsmen were Charles Michael Fair Jr., Elliot Louise Fancher IV, Joshua William Hurst, John Doty Porter Jr., Craig Mitchell Rozier and Edgar Adam Staples.

Ushers were Jacob Thomas Hurst and Drew Arritt Long.

Charles Michael Fair III served as ring bearer. Honorary ring bearers were Andrew Joseph Fair and John Benz Porter.

Following the ceremony, the bride's parents hosted a reception in the barn at Lakeview Plantation, where guests enjoyed music by The Escalade Dance and Show Band of New Orleans.

An autumn supper was served, which included a mixed grill board, chafing dishes of spinach and crab dip, shrimp yvonne and a Bombay curry bar.

The bride's five-tiered wedding cake embellished with miniature seasonal fruits sat atop a cypress plateau under a massive hanging basket of crop cuttings.

The groom's table held the warm Belgian chocolate fondue with miniature cake bites, cookies, meringues and trays of chocolate cups with assorted liqueurs.

On the eve of the wedding, the groom's parents hosted a rehearsal dinner at The Alluvian. Johnny Crocker of Jackson provided music for the evening.

After returning from their honeymoon in Jamaica, the couple is at home in Greenwood.
